If you are thinking of venturing to this Central American country- the NY times has run some great travel stories over the past year-it’s a good place to start. We were on the Pacific Coast, which is a huge draw for surfers. The Southeast and Atlantic coast seem to be where more resorts have been established, to support the tropical dive waters. It’s an easy flight to Managua thru Houston on United, or take Taca airlines for direct options.
P.S. My friend is actively involved with a growing charity working to empower the residents of the rural pacific village of Transito on the central Pacific Coast. The idea is to develop a model program here -that can be rolled out in other regional communities and ultimately beyond the borders.
Check it out NICA.
